Term Definition
T1

A copper based circuit, where DS1 signals are encoded and decoded, using a method of TDM or Time Division Multiplexing, and yielding fixed bandwidth capability of 1.54 Mbps, or megabits per second. T1 circuits may be bonded, yielding bandwidths of approximately 3.0 Mbps, 4.5 Mbps, 6.0 Mbps, 7.5 Mbps, 9.0 Mbps, 10.5 Mbps and 12.0 Mbps.

TCP

Transmission Control Protocol or TCP is part of the Internet Protocol suite, complementing the Internet Protocol (IP) and therefore the suite is typically described as TCP/IP or Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol. The role of TCP is to reliably and directrly exchange data between two network hosts. In comparison, IP or Internet Protocol is responsible for addressing and routing messages across one or more networks.

Aliases (separate with |): Transmission Control Protocol
TDM

Time Division Multiplexing or TDM is a type of digital multiplexing in which two or more signals or bit streams are transferred nearly simultaneously as sub-channels within one communication channel, yet physically operating within timeslots in a "round robin" fashion encoding data onto and decoding data off of the channel.

Aliases (separate with |): Time Division Multiplexing
Time to Live

A method to prevent the occurrence of looping within an Internet Protocol or IP network.

Aliases (separate with |): TTL
Traffic Engineering

Methods, techniques and processes that cause routed traffic to travel through the network on alternate path compared to the path determined by a networks standard routing method.

Aliases (separate with |): TE
Trunk

A single physical or logical connection between two network switches.

Tunnel

A network connection between two endpoints that facilitates packet encapsulation.
