AT&T taps Cisco CGv6 solution for IPv6 migration strategy
AT&T (NYSE:T) has added another bullet to its IPv6 arsenal by choosing Cisco's (Nasdaq: CSCO) Carrier-Grade Services Engine (CGSE) for its Carrier Router System (CRS) product portfolio. By leveraging "6rd", a transitional tool that facilitates IPv6 deployment over IPv4 infrastructure, AT&T can support new and existing customers with IPv4 and IPv6 services. The 6rd mechanism enables a service provider to support multiple Gbps of throughput and thousands of customers, while growing their network incrementally to provide new services and revenue streams as IPv4 address space becomes depleted.
