AboveNet increases network presence in Seattle
Responding to increasing demand for low latency networking from businesses in Seattle, AboveNet has built out new optical rings that will provide short routes from downtown Seattle to the Sabey Data Center Complex in Tukwila, including connections to the new American Life data center. The built out introduces a much faster, low latency alternative to the current 80-mile fiber ring around Lake Washington. The new route complements AboveNet's well-established 250 route mile optical network that reaches from Mukilteo to the north to Tacoma in the south, with routes throughout downtown Seattle, Bellevue, Kirkland, Redmond, and around Lake Washington. In addition to providing a new low latency network for area businesses and service providers, the expansion offers Seattle-based multinational corporations another option to connect not only other large domestic business hubs, including European markets which it's been recently aggressively penetrating.
