AboveNet connects US to London, Frankfurt, Amsterdam & Paris
AboveNet has announced it is expanding its international network reach to London, Frankfurt, Amsterdam and Paris. Customers with international operations and interests now have another high bandwidth connectivity option between the United States and these European cities. The AboveNet network consists of a global Tier 1 IP backbone, including 2 million fiber miles across 16 major metro markets, intercity networks spanning approximately 12,000 miles offering optical, Ethernet and IP-based services. Customers with web centic business models dependent on high-bandwidth data connectivity as a mission critical part of their business infrastructure, including financial services entities and other multinational enterprises are expected to be the primary benefactors of this expansion.
The new Europen network infrastructure will include dynamic optical networks based on ROADM technology with an advanced IP/Ethernet router layer to support packet-based services, and also be interconnected with a highly scalable 3.5Tbps long-haul network including transatlantic circuit capacity to the U.S. network. The expansion will also permit AboveNet to deliver direct services to over 30 of the most significant data centers in the aforementioned European markets, joining the current 400+ data centers served by AboveNet.
