PAETEC 100 Mbps Copper over Ethernet
PAETEC, a provider of advanced communication solutions, has announced a network upgrade using Overture Networks' Carrier Ethernet edge and aggregation equipment enabling 100 Mbps Ethernet over Copper end user services. Overture's EoC technology will allow PAETEC to leverage their existing copper infrastructure to support unprecedented bandwidth at a lower cost compared to traditional SONET platforms. PAETEC has over 370 central offices (COs) directly connected to its fiber network with more COs planned in 2011. Wholesale customers will be able to establish Ethernet Network-to-Network Interfaces (NNIs) with PAETEC to drive down access charges to reach more than 200,000 business locations. PAETEC's access loops are part of a comprehensive communications network reaching 86 of the nation's top 100 metropolitan areas with interconnections to other major data, carrier, and hosting facilities including Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Cleveland, Detroit, Jacksonville, Miami, New York City, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Phoenix, and Washington D.C.
