| Voice over IP |
Voice over IP, or Voice over Internet Protocol, or more simply VoIP, is generalized telecommunications terminology describing a group of transmission and communications protocols, used to deliver a series of voice packets over IP (Internet Protocol) based private network, or a public network such as the Internet. VoIP makes use of session control protocols to setup and tear down calls, and audio codecs which encode speech in various digital formats and faciliate its transmission over IP networks.
