Open Systems Interconnection or OSI model (OSI model) is a method of dividing a communications system into segments or layers, where each layer is a collection of related functions that offer services to the layer above it and receives services from the layer below. The OSI model consists of the following 7 layers; Physical Layer (Layer 1), Data Link Layer (Layer 2), Network Layer (Layer 3), Transport Layer (Layer 4), Session Layer (Layer 5), Presentation Layer (Layer 6) and Application Layer (Layer 7).
