Term Definition

Ethernet Private Line, or EPL is a data service defined by the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) providing a Point-to-Point (P2P) Ethernet Virtual Connection (EVC) between a pair of dedicated User–network interfaces (UNI), with a high degree of transparency. Ethernet Private Line is further categorized as an E-Line service type, including attributes of low Frame Delay, Frame Delay Variation and Frame Loss Ratio, no service multiplexing at either UNI, i.e., all service frames at the UNI are mapped to a single EVC, or i.e., All-to-One bundling.
